After delays due to COVID-19 and promotions, The Batman finally premiered this weekend in theatres and broke the records. With a great weekend box office, The Batman became DC’s highest movie since 2016’s Suicide Squad.
The Warner Bros movie had a massive box office opening worldwide, as it made a hefty $57 million on its opening day, including the preview screenings.

With already $50 million in the bank, the movie already had the biggest opening weekend of 2022. On the second number, we have Sony’s ‘Unchartered’ starring Tom Holland with a $44 million three-day box office debut.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is a reboot of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight saga with fresh actors and new characters from the comic series.
The Batman was originally planned to be released in June 2021 but was pushed to October 2021 due to COVID, and it eventually settled for the 2022 release date. Unlike previous Warner Bros movies, the film opted for an exclusive theatrical release and will appear on HBO Max on April 19th, 2022.
The movie has had the best opening weekend with $120+ million and it could reach $130 million by the end of Monday. Matt Reeves previous project Dawn of The Planets of The Apes made a $73 million in box office opening. Similarly, Robert Pattinson had a $100 million opening weekend in Twilight /saga.
It could fall short of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight which made $158 million and Zack Snyder’s crossover ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ which made $166 million.
The new Batman film has Robert Pattinson as the seventh actor to play the role of the Caped Crusader. The movie also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Pennyworth, Collin Ferrell as the Penguin, and Paul Dano as the Riddler.
There were no new releases over the weekend which cleared the way for The Batman. Even with severe competition among the superhero movies, Spider-Man: No Way Home is still in the top 5 of the box office after three months of its debut. The Batman has had the best opening weekend so far in 2022.
