Warner Bros and DC’s The Batman has added another $36 million on its third weekend, reaching the $300 million mark in the domestic box office, and is shy of $600 million worldwide after earning a total of $298 million overseas.
The Batman keeps its title at the top of the box office charts after a winning opening box office weekend. The superhero movie was only down by 45% in the US and Canada, as well as overseas.
The box office figures were impacted by China’s closure of theatres due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the country. The movie debuted at only $12 million, which was previously estimated at $25 plus million.

Despite the hurdles, and cinema closure in China, the DC film is shy of crossing $600 million worldwide on Monday. Batman is now close to the domestic totals of Aquaman (at $335 million) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($330 million).
The box office track record is similar to ‘Wonder Woman’ which made $821 million globally, with $412 million of it being domestic. The latest blockbuster is still at pace with other blockbusters like ‘No Time To Die’ and ‘F9’.
In North America, coming in number 2 after Batman is a Japanese anime Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. With a 100 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the anime film had a great weekend at the box office.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has crossed an impressive $8 million mark domestically with Uncharted coming in at No.3. Spider-Man: No Way Home has fallen out of the top 5 list but has joined the blockbusters like Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the only movies to hit the benchmark.
On number 4, we have X, the A24’s horror movie that had a start of $4.4 million – better than expected. Channing Tatum’s ‘Dog’ took No.5 on the box office, earning $4.1 over the weekend with a domestic total of $54.2 million.
