Star of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, James Snyder, has been fired from the broadway show after complaints from a co-star regarding his conduct.
The producers of the show launched an independent investigation after receiving complaints regarding Snyder in November 2021. The complaint was filed by Diane Davis, who plays Ginny Potter, wife of Harry Potter played by Jack Snyder. Snyder was fired after the investigation as his contract has been terminated and Diane has taken a leave for some time.
“Ms. Davis has made the personal decision to take a leave of absence. Out of respect for her privacy – and to maintain the integrity of the investigation – we will make no further comment regarding the matter” – Says the producer of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Snyder’s team has not responded to the investigation. James Snyder has played several roles in movies such as ‘She’s the Man’, ‘The Gingerbread Man’, and TV shows like ‘Without a Trace’ and ‘Gilmore Girls’. He has also appeared in Broadway shows like ‘Cry Baby’, ‘If/Then’, and ‘In Transit’.
The producer further said that:
“Immediately upon recieving the complaint the producers commissioned an independent investigation by a third party and Mr. Snyder was suspended pending the investigation’s completion. At the conclusion of the investigation, the poroducers decided Mr. Snyder should not return to the production and terminated his contract.”
This step was taken to “foster a safe workplace” for everyone where harassment of any form is not tolerable. The producers also said that they want the team of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to feel “safe, empowered, and fully supported.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a two-part Broadway show produced by Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, Colin Callender, and Sonia Friedman Productions.
