Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third installment of the wizarding world makes $43 million in North America over Easter weekend.

According to the latest stats, the movie opened at the domestic box office with $43 million – with $21 million on Friday, including $6 million from previews on Thursday.

The movie is faring a lot better overseas, as it earns another $71 million in the international markets, with a global tally of $193 million.

Warner Bros is in trouble, as the $200 million movies is well behind its predecessors. It is not completely sure if the movie can keep up as it is one of the most important and popular franchises.

Directed by David Yates, Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore stars Jude Law, Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, William Nadylam, Mads Mikkelsen, Dan Fogler, Callum Turner, Alison Sudol, Jessica Williams, and Victoria Yeats.

The first movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them debuted in 2016 earning $74.4 million at the domestic box office, earning a CinemaScore of A. The second movie, Fantastic Beasts: The crime of Grindelwald earned $62.2 million domestically.

Secrets of Dumbledore is below both movies, with a CinemaScore of B+.

JK Rowling’s spinoff, The Fantastic Beasts never caught up to Harry Potter. There were a lot of things that complicated the matters like the COVID-19 pandemic, and behind-the-scenes drama.

Johnny Depp who plays Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts’ second installment was replaced by Mikkelsen after his domestic abuse allegations by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Similarly, Ezra Miller who plays Credence Barebone in all three installments made the front page after appearing to choke a fan outside a club and harassing people at a bar by breaking into their hotel room.

Then there is JK Rowling who has been expressing her anti-trans viewers.
