After months of denying his return in future Spider-Man movies after Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield says he has “no plans” to play the role of Peter Parker again.
Garfield said before, he would love to play in Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
Speaking to Variety on SAG Awards 2022 last night, Garfield was asked by the interviewer if he would be playing Spider-Man again. The actor laughed and said, “No plans. That’s the truth.”
The actor added, “everyone’s gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life. I’m the boy who cried wolf.”
Andrew Garfield was nominated for the best male actor in a leading role in Miranda’s Tick, Tick…Boom. Miranda told Variety that he never said he would be playing in another Spider-Man movie again.
“To his credit, he never said it to me…He always denied it, but was I there the day it leaked. He was on my set in November when it leaked that he was in talks and I quietly went up to him and said, ‘Bro, are you in the new ‘Spider-Man?” and he went, ‘Shut up, shut up.’ It was the worst acting I’d ever seen him do. And I went, ‘He’s gotta practice that, that denial,’ and he got very good at it, but I was there when he first workshopped it.”
Did Andrew Garfield tell his #TickTickBoom co-star about his role in the new #SpiderMan?
“He did not share. I feel some kind of way about that,” jokes Robin de Jesús. “But it gets better.” https://t.co/IBvzOkUrxX | Variety On the Carpet presented by @DIRECTV pic.twitter.com/V0VpUYxP3w

Miranda also told why Andrew Garfield was cast as Rent. He said, “I saw him in ‘Angels in America’ and I thought, That guy can do anything,” because I watched him do everything for six hours straight.” He further said that it is not every day that you find an actor who gives you everything.
While on Graham Norton Show, Garfield said that he is too old for Spider-Man. He said,
“It was a stupid thing to do and a really scary thing to attempt especially in the costume – a 38-year-old should not be in Spandex! I’m far too old to be playing Spider-Man but they asked me back, which was the sweetest thing ever.”
Garfield is also nominated for Oscars 2022 in the best actor category for his performance in Tick, Tick…Boom, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Smith, Javier Bardem, and Denzel Washington.
