Doss and his unit is deployed in the Pacific. During the Battle of Onikawa, his unit is tasked to secure the Maeda Escarpment (also known as Hacksaw Ridge). Japanese launch a massive counterstrike as a result Americans are driven off the Ridge, and it leads to a lot of casualties in Doss’s unit.
